In LaPorte County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says it will host a public hearing Thursday October 8, 2026, on an intersection improvement project at U.S. 35 and Johnson/Severs Road. As proposed the signalized intersection would become a hybrid multilane roundabout. INDOT says the need for the project is due to the high frequency and severity of crashes at this intersection. Construction is anticipated to begin Spring 2029. The hearing will take place at the La Porte County Public Library Main Branch on Indiana Avenue in La Porte. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to view displays and talk with the project team, with a presentation at 6 p.m. and public comment session directly after. A recording of the livestream will be posted on the project webpage and INDOT YouTube page after the hearing and be available for at least 90 days.
