In Porter County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says U.S. 6 will be closed in both directions between State Road 149 and County Road 200 West near South Haven starting Monday April 27, 2026, for bridge construction work. The work, a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project at Salt Creek, will continue until late June. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. The official detour uses State Road 149, U.S. 20, and State Road 49.
INDOT also said State Road 149 will have intermittent lane closures between U.S. 6 and County Road 700 North for a pipe replacement at the northeast corner of Ravinia Drive. Flaggers will direct traffic during daytime hours while work is occurring. This work is also scheduled to continue through the end of June.
“INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones,” a news release said.
