A memorial walk honoring late Mastodon singer-guitarist Brent Hinds was held in Atlanta on Sunday (August 31), with bandmates Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor joining family, friends, and fans in the walk from Elmyr to the Star Bar. The event turned into a celebration of Hinds’ life and music following his tragic death in a motorcycle accident on August 20, with the Star Bar playing hits from throughout the metal guitarist’s celebrated career as fans sang along and toasted to his memory. Hinds, a founding member of Mastodon and key creative force for 25 years, died after being hit by the driver of a BMW SUV who failed to yield. Mastodon expressed profound grief after Hinds’ death, with Dailor paying tribute to him during a recent performance, saying “we were brothers to the end. And we really loved each other and we made a lot of very beautiful music together. And I think that that’s gonna stand the test of time.” (Consequence of Sound)
