Rainfall Totals Across the Region

The National Weather Service Chicago says Region residents got several inches of rain last week. Meteorologists say rounds of heavy rainfall moved across northwest Indiana and northern Illinois late last week into the weekend. Some of the highest local totals over a four-day stretch September 17-21, 2026 include nearly six inches of rain in Portage, and a little over four inches in Valparaiso and Merrillville.
