The Merrillville Police Department says long-awaited renovations have officially begun at their facility. The renovations are expected to take up to a year to complete. During this time, the Records Office has temporarily relocated so the department can continue providing the same level of service to the community.
Beginning Tuesday – August 25, 2026, the Merrillville Police Department Records Office will be located at:
5750 Tyler Street
Merrillville, IN
“Our Records Office will continue to provide the services you rely on, including report pickups and access to public information. You can still file a police report at the Merrillville Police Department, 7820 Broadway, by using the call box located outside the building,” a news release said. Merrillville Police also said certain reports can be filed online at their website.
“We apologize for any inconvenience these temporary changes may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our facility and better
serve our community.
“If you need immediate assistance or police services, please call 911 or 219-660-0000. We are proud to serve the Merrillville community and look forward to welcoming you back to our newly renovated police department in 2027!,” the department said.
