In La Porte County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says U.S. 421 will be closed at the railroad crossing between U.S. 6 and County Road 700 South beginning on or after Monday, August 10, 2026. U.S. 421 will be closed in this location for about six days while the railroad works on their crossing. The closure will be confined to this location, and local access will be maintained up to that point. Through traffic should seek alternate routes. The official detour will follow U.S. 6, State Road 39 and U.S. 30.
