Gary/Chicago International Airport recently celebrated its latest milestone with its 800th international arrival. “Our international sector continues to mature, and we are now consistently above our targeted benchmarks for our monthly international arrivals, which underscores the value GCIA provides to the smart executive of choice accessing the Chicago market, “ said GCIA Executive Director Dan Vicari. “Our proximity and ease of access to Chicago, which is typically just 25 minutes away and allows users to bypass heavy congestion, provides increasing value to our international air travelers seeking to access Chicago’s global markets.” Since the opening of the airport’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility in late 2018, the airport says its international sector has seen consistent growth, welcome incoming flights from around the globe, and its first arrival from Japan in late March. Since 2022 the Airport has been averaging nearly 13 international arrivals per month and there were 21 in January of this year. 2025 saw nearly 200 international arrivals at Gary/Chicago International Airport (GCIA).
