United States Steel Corporation marked its 125th anniversary this week. Pittsburgh-based U. S. Steel was founded on February 25, 1901, and the company said it will mark the milestone in numerous ways throughout 2026, beginning with the launch of a special website landing page to provide updates on celebration activities. U-S Steel’s largest manufacturing plant is Gary Works, which opened in 1908. The company is also launching a year-long video series featuring the voices and stories of its employees, with episodes released on its social media and anniversary landing page on a periodic basis. “U. S. Steel was built by generations of people who believed deeply in the importance of what they were creating,” said David B. Burritt, President and Chief Executive Officer of U. S. Steel. “Our journey has not always been easy. We’ve weathered many ups and downs to get where we are, and our 125th anniversary is honoring that legacy while looking ahead with confidence. We are investing to modernize, compete, and ensure U. S. Steel remains strong, relevant, and essential—for our employees, our customers, our communities, and our country.” Here is a link for more details.
