Sunday February 22, 2026, is College Goal Sunday in Indiana, and financial aid professionals will be on-site at several locations in the Region and across the state to help college-bound students and their families apply for financial aid. The free event is from 2 pm to 4 pm local time. The College Goal Sunday website says northwest Indiana locations will include Ivy Tech Community College campuses in Crown Point and Valparaiso, Indiana University Northwest in Gary, and Purdue University Northwest’s Hammond and Westville campuses.
The workshop will assist Indiana students in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships, and federal student loans at most colleges, universities, and vocational/technical schools nationwide. A news release from Ivy Tech says the FAFSA must be filed by the State of Indiana priority deadline of April 15th to guarantee state aid for those that qualify.
College Goal Sunday carries much significance across our surrounding communities. It’s a date that’s so important because many families view the form as being too complicated and time consuming to complete. In less than one hour during this afternoon workshop, students and their families can get free help and file the form, said Aco Sikoski, Ivy Tech Valparaiso Campus Chancellor.
