In Crown Point, Franciscan Health says demolition is slated to begin as early as this week on portions of their former hospital campus on South Main Street. In early July 2025, Franciscan Health announced the former bed tower and part of the first floor of the main hospital building would be torn down as part of the overall transformation project. Contractors on site will limit their work to daytime hours and employ dust control measures as work is underway, a news release said. Construction fencing went up in July as work took place inside ahead of demolition. Once complete, the areas will be converted into green space. Franciscan Health said multiple administrative and clinical programs are slated to remain on the property, which has been used for multiple outpatient services since the new hospital opened near I-65 and U.S. 231 in January 2024.
