In Merrillville, the town is doing something unique to northwest Indiana by releasing an app designed to engage with the community. According to a release from the town, the digital tool provides easy access to town news, event updates, road construction updates, job postings, and direct links to important resources on the town’s website—all from the convenience of a smartphone. “We’re stepping into the future of citizen engagement,” Town Council President Rick Bella said. “This app will streamline how we communicate with residents and ensure the community has fast, reliable access to the information they need.”
Town Council Vice President Rhonda Neal led the My Merrillville app initiative as chairwoman of the Special Town Projects Committee and town leadership sought out a simplified method to quickly reach residents about important town matters. “This mobile solution represents an important step forward in how we serve and connect with our residents,” Neal said. “We’re confident it will strengthen communication and bring our community even closer together.”
The My Merrillville app is available for free download on Apple App Store and Google Play Store and once installed, you’re all set to receive town notifications, the town said.
