Indianapolis Colts Announce Death of Owner Jim Irsay

In Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Colts are announcing the death of owner Jim Irsay. The team said in a statement that Irsay died in his sleep Wednesday May 21, 2025. Irsay was named the youngest general manager in team history in 1984 at age 37 following the team’s arrival in Indianapolis, taking over sole ownership of the franchise in 1997. Under his ownership, the Colts won the city’s first Super Bowl. Beyond his work with the Colts, Irsay was known as a philanthropist as well as a performer with his rock group the Jim Irsay Band. Jim Irsay was 65.
