In east central Indiana east of Muncie, a landspout in Randolph County has been detected by the National Weather Service. They gave it an EF intensity rating of “unknown” because it was tracked through open farmland and did not cause any damage. The landspout formed around 6 pm Eastern time Tuesday May 13 2025. A Special Weather Statement was issued by the Indianapolis National Weather Service office early Tuesday evening for Winchester, Parker City, and Farmland, Indiana, warning a landspout was possible. Region News Team Meteorologist Matt Wintz says landspouts differ in certain ways from traditional tornadoes and you can hear him explain the difference at News Audio on Demand at the Community dropdown menu at our radio station websites.
