Radio One Communications Wins 4 IBA Awards

 Radio One Communications' Northwest Indiana radio stations won four awards in the 2010 Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Awards. This year the Indiana Broadcasters Association received more than 400 entries from around the state in its annual competition.  Finalists for each market-size were announced at the Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Awards Dinner in Indianapolis November 13.

The Z107 Wake-Up Crew with program director Don Clark and Veronica Carter received top honors in the Radio Station Broadcast Personality or Team category.

News Director Laura Waluszko received first place for “Ghost Stories” Indiana 105 in the Special Interest and Cultural Programming Category.

Production Director Mac MacLeod won first place for”Pauls Auto Yard - Sanford & Son" Humorous Commercial Indiana 105.

Z107.1 also won Best Promotional Campaign for "Z-107 Corn Hole Tournament" produced by program director Don Clark.

Both of the company's local morning shows were nominated in the Radio Station Broadcast Personality or Team category -- The Indiana 105 Dawn Patrol with Steve and Laura and The Wake-Up Crew with Don and Veronica on Z107. The Dawn Patrol featuring host Steve Zana and news director Laura Waluszko won the award in 2008, and were also nominated in 2006 and 2007.The Wake-Up Crew with program director Don Clark and morning co-host Veronica Carter were nominated for the award in 2009.

Three series written and produced by Waluszko were nominated -- "Summer Safety Series 2010" Indiana 105 for Mini-Documentary or Series, and Northwest Indiana "Ghost Stories" Indiana 105 and "Severe Weather Week" X-Rock 103.9 both in the Special Interest and Cultural Programming category.

Several commercials submitted by production director Mac MacLeod were nominated in different categories. MacLeod was nominated for "Pauls Auto Yard - Sanford & Son" Humorous Commercial Indiana 105, "Shaffer Hyundai - Hyundai Man" Humorous Commercial Z-107, "Christenson Chevy - Unpaid Spokesperson" Commercial Series X-Rock 103.9 and "Lakeshore Area Regional Recovery of Indiana" Commercial Series Z107.  MacLeod has won five Spectrum Awards for commercials since 2004.
 
Z107 also received a nomination in the Best Promotional Campaign category for "Z107 Corn Hole Tournament" produced by program director Don Clark.

Radio One Communications radio stations have won over 25 awards in the last decade from the Indiana Broadcasters Association, Network Indiana, and The Society of Professional Journalists - Indiana Chapter.
