Historic Local Railcar @ Museum

A historic train car renovated in the Region is now parked for the public to see at the Indiana Railway Museum in downstate French Lick. The car was built in 1924 for a Great Northern Railroad express train called the “Oriental Limited” that ran from Chicago to the West Coast. In 1953 it became a business car for Monon [moh-non] rail executives. In 1971, Monon put it up for sale and a Michigan City man acquired it and later refurbished it. Last year the Leonard Brown family foundation donated it to the Monon Railroad Historical Society.
