Medical Student Missions Welcomes Special Guest

A group called Medical Student Missions, started as a local class project that has become an ongoing effort to help those devastated by the earthquake in Haiti just over a year ago, welcoming a special visitor to northwest Indiana this week -- Mr. Vilna Josaphat, a professor of agriculture in Haiti at a training center that became a hosting facility for medical relief missions after the January 12, 2010, earthquake. Purdue University MBA student Eric Clement is helping to host Mr. Josaphat as he visits northern Indiana. Mr. Josaphat is sending out thank yous to all those who have helped with the health crises in Haiti.

Following the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti, members of the Indiana University School of Medicine - Northwest Class of 2013 formed a non-profit group, Medical Student Missions, with their advisor, Dr. William Forgey of Merrillville.  Members and others have since made multiple trips to Haiti, and another is planned in February.

Wednesday January 26, 2011, at 6 pm, at Cafe Fondue on north 80th Place in Merrillville, near the Post Office off Broadway just north of US 30, there's a public reception, and those who'd like more information or who'd like to help are welcome to stop by.  The website is  www.medicalstudentmissions.org
