The Indiana Department of Transportation says on January 14th, they plan on closing a section of Indianapolis Boulevard over the Nine-Span Bridge so they can replace it. Spokesman Matt Deitchley says, weather permitting, work will begin that day. Last month, INDOT announced an almost 18-million dollar contract to replace the State Road 152, or Nine-Span Bridge, over the railroad yards, and stated that the section of Indianapolis Boulevard to be closed will remain closed for most of 2013. NICTD says South Shore passengers who usually take this route should instead take the Borman to Cline Avenue, north to Michigan Street/ U.S. 20, and then west to the East Chicago Station. www.nictd.com
