Griffith Mosquito Positive for West Nile

Town officials say a mosquito from the southeast side of Griffith has tested positive for the West Nile Virus, according to routine testing conducted by the Lake County Health Department. A news release from the town says immediate steps were taken to eradicate the species of mosquito and the situation will continue to be monitored. They noted the information was being disseminated simply as a warning, noting they have no known cases of the virus in humans or animals.
