For the second time this week a Westville Correctional Center employee has been arrested. The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office reports 26 year old Joseph Altemus, of LaPorte, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for one-count of dealing a controlled substance, in this case hydrocodone, which is a felony. The warrant had been issued as a result of an investigation initiated by the LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit.
On Monday, a 51 year old Michigan City woman employed as a corrections officer at the prison was arrested for allegedly trafficking to prisoners. Prison officials did not disclosed what was being trafficked, other than saying the item was not an illegal substance.
