The fall leaf pickup begins in Michigan City on Monday and city officials would to pass on some information regrading how they would like to to go about the process. Officials says no plastic bags are to be used, branches, rocks, and other debris must be kept out of the leaf piles and leaf piles should be loose in large piles in front of your property as close to the curb as possible, but away from sewer drains. They also ask that residents not use toters, as leaves will not be picked up in those containers.
Leaves in paper yard bags or 32 gallon trash cans should be placed in the front of the property and they will be picked up by the Refuse Department on your regular compost day until the week ending November 22, 2013. Leaves will be picked up by request only prior to Monday, October 21, 2013. If citizens have branches that need picked up please call in your requests to the Central Service Department at 873-1500.
