ABC's Ann Compton reports that at the White House, there is no rush to judgment on the proposals from Congress, as so far President Obama has declined to embrace, unconditionally, any of the Republican proposals to raise the debt limit or re-open the govt. But he has not REJECTED any of them either.
Following the approximately two-hour meeting at the White House between Senate Republicans, the President, Vice-President and the Secretary of the Treasury...Indiana US Senator Dan Coats issued a statement saying, “for a president who said he would not negotiate, today’s meeting was a step forward. Both sides had the opportunity to present their viewpoints, and it is important that we are at least talking. I will continue to work with my colleagues – in both the House and Senate – to find a solution so we can remove this uncertainty to focus on restoring our fiscal health and growing the economy.”
