Indiana State Police say a 43-year-old Hammond woman is in very critical condition after crashing her vehicle Monday night into the cable barriers on south bound I-65 at the 244 mile marker, approximately three miles south of the Crown Point exit. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jason Madison revealed that at approximately 6:09 P.M., Monday, October 07, 2013, evening a 1995 Honda, driven by Robin Dean Krueger was south bound on I-65 in the left lane when for unknown reasons lost control of her vehicle. The Honda overcorrected and went off the road to the left into the cable barrier in the median.
Krueger was trapped in the Honda and was unconscious and had to be extricated from the car. Troopers say she had a small dog in the car with her who was not injured and was turned over to animal control for safe keeping. Police say Krueger was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with life threatening injuries.
The Honda was described as a total loss. The left lane was closed for approximately 1 ½ hours. Agencies assisting: Lowell Fire and Ambulance
