Walk to End Alzheimers
Over 750 northwest Indiana residents joined the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday at Hidden Lake Park in Merrilville. The Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter reports that, while totals are still being finalized, nearly 115-thousand dollars was raised which goes to support people affected by the disease as well as fund critically needed research. Participants also learned about the latest research and current clinical trials, how they can become involved in advocacy efforts at home and in Washington D.C.
Alzheimer's disease is now the nation's 6th leading cause of death, and in Indiana, over 120-thousand people live with the disease. Another opportunity to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's comes on October 6th, at Washington Park, in Michigan City, with registration to begin at 12:30pm.
