A native of northwest Indiana is driving a farm tractor from Florida to the Michigan state line – about a-thousand mile journey -- to raise money for Riley Children's Foundation and Ronald McDonald House. Darren Hayes, who grew up in LaCrosse and went to LaCrosse High School, started his trip August 26 in Chiefland, Florida, and his destination is New Buffalo, Michigan, just over the Indiana state line.
His 1952 John Deere 60 tractor is named after a little girl who died of brain cancer last year. He's also riding in honor of his friend who has been diagnosed with the same cancer. You can hear Annie Fox's interview with Hayes here online at News Audio on Demand.
