Crews were cleaning up trash spilled in a grassy area near Indianapolis Boulevard at last check after a semi hauling trash partially rolled over, closing the ramp for almost four-hours. Indiana State Police say a preliminary investigation revealed the semi was heading west on I-80 to the southbound Indianapolis Boulevard ramp, when the driver took the curve too fast, and struck a concrete retaining wall, partially rolling the semi onto its side, with the trailer hanging over the retaining wall, which caused a significant amount of trash to spill out. Authorities report the driver of the semi was taken to Munster Community Hospital for back pain, and was cited for speeding too fast to avoid a collision. State Police report they were dispatched to the scene, just before 11 this morning, and the ramp is now reopened to traffic.
