Indiana State Police say a 26-year-old LaPorte man who was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed tried to evade arrest by driving through a WalMart parking lot in Michigan City early this morning, then fleeing on foot into a wooded area before being arrested. Troopers say the pickup truck eventually went out of control and spun to a stop in an accessway to Franklin Street. A perimeter was set up and the man was taken into custody without incident minutes later, on multiple charges and multiple warrants. Police say a 27-year-old female passenger from LaPorte who was not injured, was cooperative, and arrested on an outstanding warrant in Lake County.
