Indiana Department of Environmental Management Commissioner Tom Easterly is scheduled to visit northwest Indiana this morning. He'll be making a presentation before Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission Environmental Management and Policy Committee at 9 am. Kathy Luther, Director of Environmental Management at NIRPC, says Easterly’s visit is a great chance for the Region to share its concerns with IDEM and see how the area fits into the statewide environmental picture.

Indiana Department of Environmental Management Commissioner Tom Easterly will be presenting at a meeting of NIRPC’s Environmental Management and Policy Committee
Commissioner Tom Easterly of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management will be speaking at the Northwestern Indiana Planning Commission Environmental Management and Policy Committee meeting at 9:00 am Thursday February 7th. IDEM is responsible for protecting human health and the environment while providing for the safe industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental operations vital to a prosperous economy.
This is an excellent opportunity for the region to get insight into environmental opportunities and challenges that might come up in the near future. “Commissioner Easterly’s visit is a terrific chance for the region to share our concerns with IDEM and also to see how we fit into the statewide environmental picture.” said Kathy Luther, Director of Environmental Management at NIRPC.
The Environmental Management and Policy Committee (EMPC) is one of the primary advisory bodies to NIRPC The group includes elected local officials, environmental managers, regional environmental activists, industry leaders, and academics with expertise in environmental and ecological areas.
