The Cedar Lake Fire Department is asking residents to stay off Cedar Lake as the ice is not safe. Chief Todd Wilkening says the weather just has not been cold enough for long enough, which can put the safety of those on the ice at risk, as well as responders who would be called out in case an incident occurs. Chief Wilkening says while they have not had an incident yet this winter, police have been called out a few of times to get people off the lake, due to thin-ice conditions, and there was even a report of people out there on motorcycles, which the Chief says is extremely dangerous.
