Officials say about 100 acres of land in northwestern La Porte County are "shovel-ready" and available for continued economic development. Michigan City-based Tonn and Blank Construction purchased the acreage, located just south of the Michigan City Municipal Airport, in late December, and Economic Development Corporation Michigan City, along with the City of Michigan City, coordinated the sale. Officials say the land, now an agricultural site, was previously owned by private individuals. The acreage runs along US 212, close to US Highways 35 and 20 as well as Interstate 94.
