A vigil was held in Gary to remember a 13-month-old child shot and killed five years ago, a case that remains unsolved. Authorities say Josiah Shaw was being strapped into his child seat by his mother when the woman was approached and shot in the 500 block of West 21st Street in Gary, and officers later found the child, with gunshot wounds, inside the vehicle about a half-mile away at 17th Avenue and Virginia Street. The boy later passed away from his injuries, reports say, and his mother, who was severely injured, survived. The child's grandmother was among those Monday who gathered at 21st and Virginia, blocks from the crime scene, handing out fliers, seeking the public's help in finding those responsible for the boy's death.
