You may have put away your Christmas decorations, but many Orthodox Christians in the Region and around the world are celebrating the Nativity today. Some Orthodox Christian churches, including those in Russia, follow a different calendar.
Sunday night was Christmas Eve, and today is Christmas for many, but not all, Orthodox Christians in Northwest Indiana. Eastern Orthodox churches following the old Julian calendar celebrate the Nativity January 7th; however, the Orthodox Church in America, or OCA, says most Orthodox Christians in the United States observe the feast according to the Gregorian calendar, sometimes called the Revised Julian calendar, which places the Commemoration of the Nativity on December 25th.
