Illinois has become the sixteenth state to legalize gay marriage. Today, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn was on hand for the same sex marriage of Jim Darby and Patrick Bova, a couple who have been together for 50 years. Governor Quinn says, "I think it's very, very important that our state become a welcoming state. It's so important that we use the process of democracy to pass this landmark, historic law." A handful of Illinois counties were allowing gay marriage for months before the statewide law went into effect on Sunday.
