Fair Oaks Woman Files Lawsuit for Wrongful Lockup

A woman from Fair Oaks is suing the Lake and Newton County Sheriff's Departments. According to the civil rights lawsuit filed this week in US District Court, Ana L. Rodriguez claims she was arrested on an outstanding warrant in August of 2012 after she went to the Newton County Jail to pay bond for a friend, despite the fact that the warrant was issued for Ana R. Rodriguez, who has a different middle name, social security number and date of birth. The Times reports the woman was held at the Newton County Jail for three days, then transferred to the Lake County Jail, where she was later released after posting bond and she continued to be charged until the warrant was dismissed in May of 2013.
