A former longtime clerk with the Village of Burnham, Illinois, was charged today by the US Attorney's Office Northern Illinois District with stealing over 650-thousand dollars from revenue payments and filing a false tax return. 70 year old Nancy Dobrowski, of Burham, is accused of using most of the money the village received as payment for fees and fines, between at least 2004 through May of 2013, to gamble at casinos in Indiana and elsewhere. She resigned after FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at the village clerk's office on May 29th, 2013.
Dobrowski will plead guilty to the charges and will be arraigned in federal court but a date has not yet been scheduled.
