In East Chicago, police are investigating the report of a dog bite in the 35-hundred block of Pennsylvania Avenue shortly before 5 pm Tuesday. Chief Mark Becker says officers responding determined that two pit bills had successfully escaped from their enclosure and approached a nine-year-old boy who lives in the immediate area. Police say the boy attempted to avoid the dogs, but suffered bites to both legs from at least one of them. No information was available on the boy's condition. Police also say the dogs' owner had successfully gained control of the dogs and were housed in the owner's residence. Police say the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call East Chicago Police at 219-391-8400 or the anonymous tip line at 219-391-8500
