Reported Crime in East Chicago Drops Again

After an 18 year low in total crime reported in 2013, the city of East Chicago is reporting another drop.  Mark Becker Chief of Police reports that the total number of reported violent and property crime occurrences in January, February and March of 2014 was 33-percent lower then the same period last year.  Chief Becker says total crimes reported to the FBI are included in the agencies Uniform Crime Reporting program.
The total number of crimes reported to the FBI in the first quarter of 2014 compared to that of 2013 reflects a reduction in overall crime (violent and property) of 33%
