A 31 year old wanted sex offender who was wanted for failing to register and who had not been seen or heard from since he last registered in mid-February is now in custody. The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office reports James Adams surrendered himself today at the Sheriff's Office. Authorities say Adams opted to surrender when he learned via the media that he was wanted for failing to comply with the terms of Indiana's Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
Adams was required by law to register every seven days after he notified authorities in October 2013 that he was homeless. Adams was convicted in 2000, and again in 2001, in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, for sexual assault of a child and first registered with the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office in 2009.
