In LaPorte, officials report the reconstruction of McClung Road is beginning. The project is anticipated to take seven-to-eight months to complete and the road will be totally closed to thru-traffic during construction. The reconstruction will allow improved drainage on McClung Road, and will also widen the roadway, flatten several existing curves and a new water main will also be installed.
Construction will be completed from south to north over the summer, and total closures in 3,000 ft. intervals are permitted. For residents located within the several closure zones, local access at all times will be maintained. As construction progresses northward, those residents north of the closures will be required to enter and exit from and to the north, while those residents south of the closures will be to the south.
During the period of construction questions, complaints, and comments from the public may be forwarded to John Smith, the Construction Engineer, at (219) 916-5568, or to the City's Engineering Department at 219-362-2327.
The La Porte Police Department urges motorists traveling in that area to obey all traffic signs/ regulations and respect it as a Work Zone area. Please drive with care.
