Is someone eyeing Valpo U head basketball coach Bryce Drew for a new job? A published report in Oklahoma today, citing unnamed sources, speculates that Valparaiso University head mens basketball coach Bryce Drew may have emerged as a possible candidate at the University of Tulsa, as Tulsa conducts a search for a new coach. We spoke to Valparaiso University Athletics Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera today, and he told the Region News Team, "Bryce Drew and I as recently as this weekend have been talking about our plans for the basketball team moving forward for next year, and so I have no reason to believe that he's ready to leave for the University of Tulsa or that that's something he's contemplating." That same online article in Tulsa World says it's not known if the speculated Drew candidacy is, as the article phrases it, at the level of being on a “consistent list” of candidates believed to be on the university's radar. The article also cites sources as saying Drew discussed the Tulsa position when Tulsa was looking for a coach two years ago. In December 2013, VU announced that Drew, a 1998 Valpo graduate, had reached an agreement with Valparaiso University on a new,10-year contract.
