After brief comments from area businesspeople, including RDA CEO Bill Hanna, Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas introduced Pratt Industries Global Chairman, Anthony Pratt, who was on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony for what Pratt said will eventually be “the world's most technologically-advanced and environmentally-friendly, 100-percent recycled paper mill”. Pratt said, once complete, Pratt Industries will be the leader in manufacturing jobs for Valparaiso.
Pratt says its a 260 million dollar papermill and the total investment will be close to a third of a billion dollars.
In addition to creating over 200 new, permanent jobs, project construction is expected to create over fourteen-hundred fifty direct, indirect and induced jobs. The two-hundred-fifty-thousand square-foot expansion is expected to be completed sometime in 2018.
