In Hobart, police are warning residents to beware after an 80-year-old woman in the 13-hundred block of State Street became the victim of a scam. Authorities say a man pretending he was doing work for NIPSCO knocked on her door around one-o'clock Tuesday afternoon and said he was in the area trimming trees near power lines, and talked her into allowing him inside her house. Police say a second man entered while she was distracted, and afterwards she discovered two new boxes of checks were gone. Hobart Police Sgt. Jeremy Ogden says residents should call police if someone comes to your doorstep making these kinds of claims.
