Conservation Officers Rescue Stranded Motorists

Five people had to be rescued by snowmobile Wednesday night after drifting snow had nearly completely covered their vehicles. Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the call for help around 10pm Wednesday night, on Crumstown trail, near Willow Road in St. Joseph County. Four vehicles had become stuck in nearly three-foot high snow drifts and the snow was continuing to accumulate. Conservation officers had to answer the call using a snowmobile as they they were not able to reach them by typical means and the St. Joseph County Highway Department brought in heavy equipment to clear the rest of the road.
