Winter Storm Could Bring 5 to 7 Inches of Snow to NWI

Northwest Indiana, like much of the nation, has seen more than its share of snow this winter and more is on the way. Associate Professor of Meteorology at Valparaiso University, Dr. Bart Wolf, says the storm will be quick hitting and intense, with rain tonight into the early overnight hours changing quickly to snow, dropping anywhere from five-to-seven inches of snow, possible as much as eight inches in some areas.

Dr. Wolf says the storm is anticipated to move through the area pretty quickly and when you combine the snow with the strong winds, it could make a lot of trouble on the roadways tomorrow morning. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of northwest Indiana tonight through tomorrow afternoon. Wind gusts of 40 miles per hour at times will lead to blowing and drifting snow with near blizzard conditions possible at times.
