An investigation continues into the shooting death of a Gary man early Saturday morning. Gary Police Public Information Officer Corp. Gabrielle King told the Region News Team officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Marshall Street, at 2:50am, on a call of shots fired. Corp. King says officers arrived and found a 35 year old man who had been shot multiple times. Paul Johnson III was hospitalized for his injuries and was pronounced deceased a couple hours later due to multiple gunshot wounds. The death has been ruled a homicide and anyone who may have been in the area of the 400 block of Marshall Street, around 2:30 to 3am on March 1st, is asked to contact Gary Police.
Gary Police are also seeking information regarding a body discovered several hours later that same morning after a car fire was extinguished by firefighters in the 12-hundred block of New Jersey. Corp. King says officers were dispatched to the scene at 4am and the remains were transferred to the Lake County Coroner's Office to identify the victim.
Later that morning, a 13 year old boy suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot while walking in the 44-hundred block of Johnson Street. Corp. King says the victim told officers that around 10:17am, he saw a group of male subjects running towards him, so he ran, until he heard the sound of shots being fired and realized he had been shot in the leg. The teen made it to a relative's home, in the 15-hundred block of West 45th Avenue, where medics arrived and transported him to the emergency room for treatment. Anyone with information regarding these incidents are asked to contact Gary Police.
