Murder Conviction Handed Down for 1983 Death of Inmate

Indiana State Police today announced a murder conviction was handed down last week in a LaPorte County Courtroom regarding the 1983 murder of an inmate at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. State Police report on Thursday, Paul Stucker, of Scott County, was found guilty of the murder of Johnny Hodge. Authorities say while the motive is not clear, Stucker was found guilty of throwing several gallons of a liquid accelerant onto Hodge, who was locked in a cell, causing him to be burnt alive.
State Police report they received information in 2005 that Stucker was allegedly involved in Hodge's murder and the case was reopened. Over the years, authorities say, enough evidence was gained for Stucker to be arrested in 2012. State Police say the case could not have been solved without the aid of local citizens coming forward with information about the crime.
