Indiana Family Among Those Aboard Hijacked Plane

A family from Goshen, Indiana was among the Americans on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight to Rome that was hijacked to Geneva on Monday. ABC News describes their story about what it was like...every passenger's worst nightmare come true. The co-pilot hijacked the plane from inside the cockpit. Jolene Shrock told ABC News there was just yelling over the intercom and that they were told to put our masks on. The plane was described as rocking, hurtling about, and plunging. Shrock says they knew that there was a lot of turbulence and the plane lost a lot of altitude. The co-pilot threatened to crash the plane as the pilot, who was locked out by the co-pilot, left to go to the bathroom, battled to get back inside.
The 31 year old co-pilot flew past Rome, demanding to land in Geneva, to seek asylum there. The standoff in the air last for 90 minutes before finally Flight 702 landed in Geneva, the co-pilot exiting the cockpit through the window, down a rope and was promptly arrested.
