The superintendent of Portage Township Schools today announced his resignation. Dr. E. Ric Frataccia has served as Portage Township School Corporation superintendent since 2012 and his resignation is effective July 1st. Dr. Frataccia was named the 2014 Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents “Superintendent of the Year” for District One in September, 2013. The Times reports Dr. Frataccia, who was appointed to the Superintendent position by Michael Berta, says he's looking at other options and that returing to Valparaiso Community Schools is not out of the question, although he has not received a contract offer.
64-year-old interim superintendent Michael Berta is leaving Valparaiso Community Schools after two years, after coming out of retirement to fill the post. Berta retired from Portage Township Schools in June 2012, and less than two months later he was asked to join Valparaiso.
