Senate Committee to Consider HJR-3

Debate on Indiana's proposed constitutional ban on gay-marriage continues today. The state Senate's Rules Committee is scheduled to consider House Joint Resolution 3 this afternoon (Monday). The amendment passed the Indiana House last month, but language was taken out that would have also prohibited same-sex civil unions. It's been said removing that second sentence of the resolution will prevent the question from going before Hoosier voters in the form of a referendum for a couple years, instead of being on the ballot this November.
