The National Weather Service in Chicago has downgraded the total snow accumulation anticipated due to the winter storm in northwest Indiana. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from tonight to tomorrow night for Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties. Total snow accumulation was forecasted between 6-to-10 inches, but has been revised down to 3-to-6 inches, with higher snow totals and minor ice accumulations possible in LaPorte County.
The Winter Storm Watch for the rest of northwest Indiana has been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory, which is in effect now through tomorrow (Saturday) evening. Snow accumulation of 2-to-5 inches is expected, with higher totals in Starke and Pulaski Counties. Ice accumulations of two-tenths of inch or more is expected in the advisory area.
