One thing that will remain is the wall of ceramic-cast handprints from kids who took part in building the first Valplayso 20 years ago, but a new wall will be added with laser-etched portraits of children linked by QR code to a website with videos.
The park on Glendale is being rebuilt this October during the 20th anniversary week of the playground. City officials say ValPlayso was built in 1994 by more than 25-hundred community volunteers. Mayor Jon Costas says the one-million dollar project will be funded by private support and will feature a complete renovation, including a shelter, restrooms, parking lots and t-ball fields.
